Gunnar Rasmussen, Founder of GRAS Sound & Vibration, Awarded the Beryllium Driver Award

Gunnar Rasmussen was bestowed ALTI’s highest honor – The Beryllium Driver Award – for a lifetime of service to the industry and outstanding achievements at the 2019 ALTI expo. Unable to attend, his grandchild and ALTI Board Member, Jacob Søndergaard, accepted the award on Mr. Rasmussen’s behalf and gave a commemorative tribute speech to his grandfather.

The Beryllium Driver Award is given to people that are innovators and pioneers in the industry. When receiving the award, Gunnar expressed that he was deeply moved that ALTI and the audio community deemed his body of work worthy of such high praise. Mr. Rasmussen of course had a vast network of acoustics engineers within the industry and among these came to be generally known as Mr. Microphone, and as one of his peers, Laurie Fincham, Senior Vice President of Audio Research at THX, remarked “If it weren’t for Gunnar, there wouldn’t be any stuff for the other guys to copy.”
